Gottman-Informed • Virtual Couples Counselling

Marriage & Relationship Counselling.

Marriages change. The pressure of work, parenting, conflict and daily life can quietly turn two people into roommates — or surface patterns that have been building for years. We work with couples at every stage, from preparing for marriage to rebuilding after a rupture. All sessions are virtual, by secure video or phone.

The TSG Approach to Marriage

Counselling shouldn't end with a good conversation.

A single session can bring clarity, but marriage is lived between sessions — at the kitchen table, in the car, during the argument at 10pm. That's why our structured marriage programs include planned follow-up. Couples need time to go home, practise what they've discussed, live their marriage, and then return to review what's actually working.

01

Learn

Understand the patterns, tools and ideas discussed in session.

02

Practise

Try those tools at home, in real conversations and real moments.

03

Live it

Let the work settle into daily married life — not just the counselling hour.

04

Review

Return for a planned follow-up to look at what's working and what still needs attention.

What We Address

Common Marriage Challenges

Communication Breakdown

Discussions turning into fights, or complete shutdown and withdrawal.

Emotional Distance

Living like roommates rather than partners. The closeness that used to be there feels far away.

Resentment & Defensiveness

Carrying a scorecard of past grievances and feeling constantly criticized.

Parenting & Life Stress

The weight of kids, work and finances pulling the couple apart.

Trust & Repair

Working toward safety and trust following betrayals or major breaches of confidence.

Pre-Marital Preparation

Building a strong foundation before saying 'I do'.

Research-Informed Approach

The Gottman Method

Based on decades of research with thousands of couples, the Gottman Method is a leading research-based approach to couples therapy. Sessions are designed to help you understand the patterns driving conflict, learn practical de-escalation skills, and build toward a stronger connection.

  • Learn to recognize and soften defensive communication
  • Build skills for intimacy, affection and respect
  • Address the roadblocks that can leave a couple feeling stuck

Can I Come Alone First?

Yes. Many men start with individual counselling to work on their own communication patterns, emotional regulation or relationship habits before or alongside couples sessions.
