My Name is James.
A husband of 20 years, a father to 4, an Englishman living in Canada.
I'm passionate about football, cars, and my family. I'm a fatherless father who has had to figure out manhood on my own, and I'm committed to forging a path for others.
"Men can expect to be heard, championed and challenged here. And when I work with couples, I believe marriage is worth investing in and worth fighting for."
My work starts with understanding what you're actually carrying — pressure, anger, disconnection, the sense that something's off but you can't quite name it. Then we get practical about what to do with it.
Reaching out shouldn't feel like a confession or a verdict on who you are. It should feel like a practical next step, and that's what I aim to offer — support built around how men actually think and the real problems marriages run into.
I don't reinvent the wheel. My approach draws on proven methods like Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, Positive Psychology, and Gottman Method training for couples — not because the labels matter to you, but because they mean the help is grounded, not guesswork.
You don't have to commit to counselling forever to get started.
Faith
My Christian faith is central to who I am. It has shaped how I understand being a husband, a father and a man, and it inevitably informs the person I am in the counselling room.
That doesn't mean you need to share my faith to work with me. I work with men and couples from different backgrounds and beliefs. If your Christian faith is important to you, we can make room for it in counselling. If it isn't, I won't impose mine on you.
